Thursday, May 28. 2009Programming - Social Networks
has come to my attention that there are a lot of social networks out there some are powerful and great but no members then there are some with really bad designs and structures yet seem to thrive. What causes this to happen, as my research started I started to notice that in all social networks had a couple things in commen. That they all seem to find ways to attract females. I did a few searches and found the females spend far more time on the network and use the feature thoroughly compared to males. When a male user goes online he goes on and usually his only objective is to fine females on the network, the females take the key features of socializing and use them. So what is the key here?
Wednesday, February 25. 2009Most wanted “Google” outlaw holds Lenoir town hostageLenoir at first seems an unlikely place for a high-tech outpost of the hottest brand on the Web. Nestled beneath the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina and a two-hour drive from the nearest commercial airport, the quiet town and its neighboring communities have reeled from the closure of seven furniture factories and the loss of more than 2,100 jobs in the past three years. But down-on-its-luck Lenoir has just about everything mighty Google Inc. (GOOG ) wants. ![]() > An outlaw or bandit is a person living the lifestyle of outlawry; the word literally means "outside the law",[1] by folk-etymology from the original meaning "laid outside" of the Old Norse word útlagi, from which the word outlaw was borrowed into English.[2] I know I will get emails asking what I mean when I call google an outlaw. When I quoted what the definition of an outlaw was it kind of makes it clear what to call these corporations. The word literally means "outside the law”. If I were to go and open a small business datacenter I would have to pay taxes and if my small business needed to grow I would have to get up and relocate. If I was in need of extra water I would basically just be screwed. It will cost the local city of Lenoir 1.1 million dollars to have google set up their datacenter there. How is this number created? In tax breaks, infrastructure upgrades, and other goodies valued at $212 millions over a 30 year period that will only create 210 jobs. It’s us paying for an outlaw company that feels it can bully a small town like Lenoir. http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/07_30/b4043066.htm Saturday, January 24. 2009USA Economic Recessions Throughout History
1920’s
A prosperous decade for many. Americans speculated wildly on stocks, overextending themselves by buying securities ‘on margin’ (ie credit). So many shares had been bought on margin, that much of it amounted to little more that paper. As production soared, consumer spending power failed to keep pace. The result was overproduction. Goods piled up and prices fell, industry began laying off workers. As more workers were laid off, the market place grew smaller and smaller. 1929 Stock Market Crash The crash came about due to careless credit based investment and increased industrial output in a shrinking market for industrial goods. After 1929 recession followed. 1930’s The Great Depression. Global economies collapse. Many Americans face hunger and poverty. 1970s’ Oil Crisis, stagflation and Vietnam The 70s was the era of stagflation, with 12% inflation requiring higher interest rates and cuts in government spending. Unemployment hit 9% in a recession lasting 16 months between 1973 and 1975. 1973-75 recession, commonly attributed to the surge in oil prices at the time. That one lasted a longer-than-average 16 months and led to a 9% peak in the unemployment rate. 1980’s A recession occurred at the start of Ronald Reagan’s presidency, when the chairman of the Fed, Paul Volcker , was determined to beat inflation once and for all. Interest rates rose to almost 20%, turning large chunks of America’s industrial heartland into a rustbelt. 82 recession, which lasted a longer-than-average 16 months and led to a peak of 10.8% in the unemployment rate - by all standards, a pretty serious affair. October 19th 1987 Black Monday The largest single day drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average index. 1990-91 turned out to be famously mild and short-lived by historical standards 2001 The September 11th Attacks 2007-Present The United States officially slipped into recession in December of 2007. The Labor Department’s official unemployment rate hit 7.6% in January, and its jump from 4.9% a year earlier marks the largest annual increase in the unemployment rate since 1975. How can I make available to all users a program that I installed in Windows XP or Windows 2000 to be accessed only by myself?
A. Some software installations will ask you whether the software you're installing should be accessible only by you or available to all users. If you initially configure the software to be accessible only to you, you can usually make it available to all users by taking several steps. First, look at the Start menu items. The Start menu items for each user are located in that user's profile menu (e.g., C:\documents and settings\savill\start menu\programs). The Start menu items for all users are located at C:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\programs. As a result, you can open Windows Explorer and drag the program's link folder from your Start Menu folder to the All Users\Start Menu folder. Be aware that although moving the folder to the All Users\Start Menu folder will let other users view the Start Menu item, they might not be able to actually start the program. You might be able to rectify this problem by adjusting the file Write permissions. If the program needs to write files to the program's file system area, which typically resides at %systemdrive%\program files\ How can I make available to all users a program that I installed in Windows XP or Windows 2000 to be accessed only by myself? I see and wonder I see how this individual works I may not understand this individual but I do try to analyze this person. I conclude that structures of a business are a complicated idea. Sometimes your ideas on paper are perfect and you Belive in it and when you try it it fails sometimes the idea seems bad and it works. I am trying to see how I can form a structure that will benefit my company and not doing the wrong choices. Only time and all the experiance I have been gathering will eventually make me or break me.

its 7:32am can't sleep so I am at dennys enjoying breakfast and thinking of how I am going to deploy windows 2008. I thought it was rather expensive but any how, the configuration model is rather complex cause I am not sure if I should setup 3 servers or 2 or just one. I am not really worried about speed or size but I am worried about down time. Not sure excatly how I can network the 2 offices. I do have access to a t1 on each branch so I guess I am really going to have to think about it.
